biography

Allan grew up in a poor neighborhood in Angeles City until he was adopted by a US family at the age of 14 and moved to the United States .

His father was a US aviator who was stationed at Clark Air Base . He left his mother and six other siblings shortly after he was born. Allan grew up in the country between corn and cassava fields.

The Pearl S. Buck Foundation, which specializes in disabled children in the developing world , focused on Allan and found a suitable sponsor named Joe Ben Hudgens . First, at the age of 11, Allan flew to the United States for treatment for his disease, nystagmus .

When he first went to Disneyland , he showed an increased interest in the United States. However, it took three more years until Hudgens finally brought him there and finally adopted him.

In Los Angeles he finally attended John Marshall High School , just like will.i.am back then . He made friends with this and together they founded a breakdance crew called Tribal Nation (later: Atban Klann ). His greatest muses were greats like Stevie Wonder or The Beatles . But even then he never lost sight of his ancestry and was such a big fan of ASIN, a Filippino rock group.

In 1995 he finally founded Taboo , will.i.am and the band The Black Eyed Peas , with whom he is still able to celebrate his greatest successes to this day. He himself has a very good relationship with all members, but above all with his childhood friend will.i.am.

He emphasizes his roots in some songs, many of which are in Tagalog and which are almost exclusively about the Philippines and life there. Therefore, he is a figure of identification for many Filipinos around the world, not least thanks to the song Bebot , which is on the 2005 album Monkey Business . Other songs with Tagalog influences are: Mama Filippina , Mare , You can dream , The Apl Song and Take me to the Philippines .

He describes himself as a Filipino-American .
