(5361) Goncharov is an asteroid of the outer main belt , which was discovered by the Soviet astronomer Lyudmila Tschernych on December 16, 1976 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095). There were unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid on November 24th and 25th, 1975 with the provisional designation 1975 WC 2 at the Karl-Schwarzschild-Observatory in the Tautenburg Forest .
The asteroid belongs to the Nocturna family, an asteroid family named after (1298) Nocturna . The timeless (non- osculating ) orbital elements of (5361) Goncharov are almost identical to those of the two smaller ones, assuming the absolute magnitude of 16.0 and 15.8 compared to 11.6, asteroids (245013) 2004 JC 108 and ( 249639) 1999 TU 162 .
(5361) Goncharov was named on January 24, 2000 after the Russian writer Ivan Goncharov , whose best-known work is the novel Oblomow (1859).
