Parque ecológica in Águas Claras

Águas Claras , officially Portuguese Região Administrativa de Águas Claras , is the administrative region RA XX and a satellite city with 148,940 inhabitants in the Brazilian federal district . The satellite city of Brasília is characterized by high-rise apartment buildings and is located about 20 km west of the center of Brasília. Águas Claras borders the administrative regions of Taguatinga , Vicente Pires , Park Way , Guará , Núcleo Bandeirante and Riacho Fundo .

history

The establishment of Águas Claras was decided by law in December 1992 (Lei Distrital n.º 385). The city was planned by the architect and urban planner Paulo Zimbres . The name "Águas Claras" is derived from a stream of the same name, which has its origin in the region. In 2003, Águas Claras became an independent administrative region.

Recreational areas

Águas Claras owns an ecological park established in 2000 ( parque ecológico ). The park has an administration building, sports facilities, barbecue areas, playground and paths for walkers and cyclists.

Jerusa Ribeiro was appointed administrator of the administrative region in January 2018, replacing her predecessor Manoel Valdeci Machado Elias.
