The Região Administrativa I Plano Piloto ( German administrative region I Plano Piloto ; until 1997 RA I Brasília ) is the central administrative region of the Brazilian capital Brasília . All important federal and federal district government buildings are located here . The name goes back to the master plan ( Portuguese Plano Piloto de Brasília ) by Lúcio Costa , on the basis of which the planned city of Brasília was built in the late 1950s.
location
The administrative region is located relatively centrally in the federal district on the west bank of the artificial Paranoá lake . It includes all parts of the original Plano Piloto that lie west of the lake, as well as most of the Brasília National Park .
history
The administrative region was created by Law No. 4.545 of December 10, 1964, by which the federal district was initially divided into 8 administrative regions. Brasilia was initially chosen as the name of the region . After this name slowly passed over to the entire municipality, the region was renamed in 1997 in contrast to Plano Piloto . In the course of time, parts of the administrative region were spun off due to the population growth, so the new administrative regions Cruzeiro , Lago Norte and Lago Sul , as well as Sudoeste / Octogonal were created one after the other .
