Lago Sul , officially Portuguese Região Administrativa de Lago Sul , is the administrative region RA XVI with 28,219 inhabitants in the south of Brasília in the Brazilian federal district . Lago Sul is characterized by villas and low-storey houses and is located on the south bank of Lago Paranoá . The administrative region borders on Santa Maria , Park Way , Candangolândia , Plano Piloto , Paranoá , Jardim Botânico and São Sebastião . The majority of the population of Lago Sul belong to the upper class ( human development index : 0.945). In addition to villas with numerous swimming pools, gated communities , embassies from smaller countries, there are also hospitals, schools and smaller shopping centers. The administrative region was established on January 10, 1994 by law "Lei nº 643".

Recreational areas
Along the lake there is the so-called "Pontão", a lake promenade with restaurants and bars. There is also a walking and cycling path along the Peninsula Sul peninsula . In the south is the Jardim Botânico de Brasília .

Lago Sul is connected to Brasilia by three bridges over Lago Paranoá, including the Juscelino-Kubitschek Bridge . Brasilia's international airport is also part of the administrative region .
