Orken is located immediately north of the Elsen district . To the east of Orken is the Neuss – Grevenbroich – Bedburg – Bergheim railway line and the city ​​forest . To the north is the village of Noithausen . Orken borders the Grevenbroich town center to the east.

history

Since the Middle Ages Orken belonged to the Teutonic Order rule of Elsen. In 1794 the place was occupied by French troops and came to the Mairie Grevenbroich in the Arrondissement de Cologne in the Département de la Roer . In 1815 the place came to the Kingdom of Prussia and in 1816 to the Grevenbroich district in the Düsseldorf administrative region .

The Evangelical Church is the Lukas Church.

However, the vast majority of the population is Roman Catholic. Half of the village belongs to the parish of St. Stephanus Elsen, the other half to the parish of St. Mariä Birth Noithausen. The border between the two parishes is at the level of Berliner Straße.

The next junction is Grevenbroich on the A 46 . South of Orken is the Grevenbroich station, which is on the Neuss – Bergheim – Horrem – Cologne – Deutz and Mönchengladbach – Rommerskirchen – Cologne – Bonn – Koblenz lines.

From Orken / Elsen you can easily reach the station through a new pedestrian tunnel.
