The National Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis Art School ( lit.Nacionalinė Mikalojaus Konstantino Čiurlionio menų mokykla ) is an art school in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . It is the only music school in Lithuania with the entire 12-year learning cycle. After the twelfth grade and the successful final examination ( Abitur ), the students receive a school leaving certificate. Learning is free for Lithuanian students, but not for foreigners. Gifted six to seven year old children are allowed to enter school after an admission procedure (exams) if their qualities meet certain criteria. The school also organizes training courses and seminars for students abroad. Many graduates work at the Nacionalinis operos ir baleto teatras .
history
In 1945 the music school- grammar school was founded. From 1953 the institution belonged to the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania . In 1960 she became the State Kunstmittelschule- boarding Since 1965 she is named after the famous Lithuanian painter and composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis named (1875-1911).
