Şenpazar is a city and capital of the district of the same name in the northern Anatolian province of Kastamonu . The place is located about 17 km from the Black Sea coast on the D759 trunk road (Seydiler – Cide). To the provincial capital Kastamonu it is 65 km in a southeast direction. The place was called Şehribani or Şarabani until 1968 and was raised to Belediye (municipality) in 1974 according to the city seal .
The district is bounded by Cide County to the north and west , Doğanyurt County to the northeast, and Azdavay County to the east and south . The district emerged in 1987 from the south-eastern part of the Cide district and was a separate Bucak there until then . In 1985, at the last census before the change of area, the Bucak Şenpazar had a population of 9,165, of which 2,439 were in the Bucak capital ( Bucak Merkezi ) Şenpazar.
At the end of 2018, the district had, in addition to the district town (33.8% of the district's population), 23 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 144 residents. The spectrum of the population was between 455 ( Edeler ) and 26 ( Furuncuk ). The population density was below the provincial average of 29.3 inhabitants per km².
