Çatalzeytin is a town and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Kastamonu in northern Anatolia . The city of Çatalzeytin is located on the Black Sea coast in the extreme northeast of the province, about 72 km northeast of the provincial capital Kastamonu . The city is on the D010 trunk road that runs along the coast. Çatalzeytin was raised to Belediye (municipality) in 1954 .
The district, formed on June 1, 1954, stretches along the coast and part of the mountainous region of the Küre Dağları . It borders Abana and Bozkurt counties in the west, Devrekani county in the southwest and Taşköprü county in the south . Finally, to the east it borders on the Turkeli district of the Sinop province .
In addition to the district town, it consists of 41 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 105 inhabitants. The spectrum of the population ranges from 251 ( Paşalı ) to 23 ( Kulfallar ). The population density is below the provincial average.
