Devrekani is a city and the capital of the district of the same name ( Turkish İlçe ) in the Turkish province of Kastamonu in northern Anatolia . Devrekani is located around 25 km north of the provincial capital Kastamonu on a plateau over 1000 m high, which is framed by the ridges of the Küre Dağları mountain range . The city of Devrekani is located 5 km east of the main road D765 (Kastamonu – Inebolu).

The district borders on the central district ( Merkez ) Kastamonu in the south, the district Seydiler in the west, the district Küre in the northwest, the district Bonzkurt in the north, the district Çatalzeytin in the northeast and the district Taşköprü in the southeast. The population density (18.9) is below the provincial average (29.3 inh. Per km²). In addition to the district town, the district consists of 54 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 153 residents. The population numbers range from 404 ( Kuz ) to 31 ( Erenler )

The Devrekani Çayı River flows through the district north of Devrekani in a westerly direction. The Kulaksızlar Dam is located eight km east-northeast of the city .
