Daday is a town and capital of the district of the same name in the province of Kastamonu in the western Black Sea region ( Turkish: Batı Karadeniz Bölümü) of northern Turkey . Daday is about 28 km west of the provincial town of Kastamonu . According to the city seal, Daday received the status of a municipality ( Belediye ) as early as 1873 .
The district is bordered by the districts of Pınarbaşı and Azdavay in the north and Araç in the south. The central district ( Merkez ) Kastamonu forms the border in the east and the district Eflani (province Karabük ) in the east. In addition to the district town (2018: 34.7% of the district population), the district consists of 41 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 105 inhabitants. The population ranges from 212 ( Değirmencik ) to 26 ( Alipaşa ).
The Gökırmak River flows through the district in an easterly direction.
