Ağlı is a district ( Turkish İlçe ) and the associated district town in the Turkish province of Kastamonu in northern Anatolia . The place was raised to Belediye in 1918. Ağlı is located about 38 km northwest of the provincial capital Kastamonu at an altitude of 1220  m in the mountains of the Küre Dağları and on the D759 trunk road ( Cide –Kastamonu).

The district is located in the northern center of the province and borders in the west on Azdavay County , in the northeast on Küre County , in the southeast on Seydiler County and in the south on Daday County . The district was formed in 1990 from the southern part of the Küre district. Until then it was its own Bucak , which counted 3,987 inhabitants at the last census before the change of area (1985) (of which in the main town, Belediye Ağlı 3,004 Enw.)

In 2018, the district consisted of the district town (around 70% of the district population) and 13 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 73 residents. That is the lowest number of inhabitants per village. The population is between 133 ( Gölcüğez ) and 17 ( Turnacık ).
