(3000) Leonardo ( 1981 EG 19 ; 1961 XB ; 1975 NK 1 ; 1979 UT 4 ; 1979 WC 6 ) is an approximately ten kilometer large asteroid of the main inner belt that was scolded by the American astronomer John Bus on March 2, 1981 Siding Spring Observatory near Coonabarabran , New South Wales in Australia ( IAU code 260).
designation
(3000) Leonardo was named after the painter , sculptor , architect , anatomist , mechanic , engineer and natural philosopher Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) from the Republic of Florence . He is considered the most famous polymath from the area of today's Italy . The lunar crater Da Vinci (moon crater) and the Martian crater Da Vinci (Mars crater) are also named after him.
