(60183) Falcone is an asteroid of the main outer belt discovered on November 5, 1999 by the Italian astronomer Matteo Santangelo at the Osservatorio Astronomico di Monte Agliale ( IAU code 159) in Borgo a Mozzano .

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis . The timeless (not osculating ) orbital elements of (60183) Falcone are almost identical to those of the larger asteroids (8751) nigricollis and the smaller asteroid (150597) 2000 WA 140 , (168386) 1997 SR 23 , (201818) 2003 YJ 19 , ( 229264) 2005 AR 31 and (239418) 2007 TY 93 . The size comparison is based solely on the absolute brightness , since the diameters of the celestial bodies are not known.

The mean diameter of (601383) Falcone was roughly calculated to be 3.247 (± 0.653) km , the albedo as 0.139 (± 0.042).

The asteroid was named on March 30, 2010 after Giovanni Falcone (1939–1992), an Italian lawyer who is considered a symbol of the fight against organized crime in Sicily . The designation was to be made in memory of Falcone's 20th anniversary of death, but the recognition of the designation by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) came faster than expected. Giovanni Falcone was killed on May 23, 1992 with his wife and three bodyguards in a bomb attack in Sicily.
