(7741) Fedoseev is an asteroid of the main inner belt , which was discovered by the Soviet astronomer Lyudmyla Karachkina on September 1, 1983 at the Crimean Observatory in Nauchnyj ( IAU code 095). There had been several unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid before, for example on September 4, 1954 under the provisional designation 1954 RU at the Palomar Observatory in California .
According to calculations, the mean diameter of the asteroid is around 5.2 km.
The light curve of (7741) Fedoseev was in November and December 2009 by David Higgins at Hunters Hill Observatory in Canberra examined -Ngunnawal. However, the results were too imprecise to determine the rotation period .
The asteroid was named on August 8, 1998 after the Russian conductor Vladimir Iwanowitsch Fedosejew (* 1932). The suggestion for the name came from the composer Georgi Sviridow (1915-1998) and was supported by Lyudmila Karachkina. Sviridow, after whom the asteroid of the outer main belt (4075) Sviridov is named, did not live to see the name.
