- Gwanggaeto becomes ruler of Goguryeo , the northernmost of the Three Kingdoms of Korea .
Culture and religion
- Theodosius I , who elevated Christianity in the Trinitarian form to the state religion in the Roman Empire in 380 , forbids all pagan cult activities.
- Destruction of the Alexandrian Serapeion and all other so-called pagan temples in this city by fanatical Christians at the instigation of the Patriarch Theophilos . With the Serapeion, one of the largest collections of ancient literature and science goes up in flames.
