The Academic Hockey and Tennis Club Vienna is a hockey club with around 500 members based in the Vienna Prater , more precisely in the hockey stadium. The club was founded in 1947 by the fistball players Kurt Meszaras, Karl Papasian, Friedl Schmutz, Erich Matthes Ingo Nowak, who decided to found a hockey club due to a lack of opponents. The club, playing in light blue shirts, white trousers and light blue and white ringed socks, has established itself among the top 3 in Austrian hockey.

In the adult area, the AHTC won 62 national titles in hockey (field and hall). In addition, there are more than 50 championships of the youth department founded in 1952. As reigning champions, the men's team took part in the debut season of the Euro Hockey League in The Hague in 2007/2008 , but failed in the preliminary round against the English representative Cannock HC and HC Dinamo Kazan from Russia.
