Career
Aaron Gavey initially played for Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In 1992 he won the OHL championship with the team, the J. Ross Robertson Cup , and a year later they were only defeated in the final. Also in 1993 he won the Memorial Cup with the Greyhounds , the highest trophy in junior ice hockey in North America. In 1994 he became world champion with Canada's junior national team.
After the left shooter was selected in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 74th place, he moved to the 1995/96 season in the National Hockey League . There he completed a total of 379 games for Tampa Bay, the Calgary Flames , the Dallas Stars , Minnesota Wild , the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim . Reaching the Stanley Cup final (2-4 against the New Jersey Devils ) with the Stars in the 1999/2000 season was the greatest success.
Gavey also played in the International Hockey League and the American Hockey League , most recently in the 2005/06 season for the Portland Pirates (AHL), where he also held the position of team captain . He also played for the Storhamar Dragons in Norway in the 2004/05 season . However, after breaking into his house and threatening his family, he left the club after just one game. Shortly after the start of the 2006/07 season , Gavey signed a one-year contract with the DEL Club Kölner Haie . Since this was not extended by the KEC in the summer of 2007, Gavey ended his active career.
Gavey has three children with his wife Jennifer: Joshua (* 2001), Olivia (* 2003) and Elisabeth (* 2006 in Cologne ).
