Life

Adam Georg von Schlieben was the son of Maximilian von Schlieben, heir to Eichow and commander of the Johanniterkommende Lietzen, and Lucia Maria von Trott. He was born in Küstrin on May 3, 1629; his parents fled there because of the unrest of the Thirty Years' War . While traveling through France with his brother Maximilian, Maximilian died in Paris in 1656. After further trips to Holland, among others, he returned to Brandenburg. In 1663 his father bought the Alt Tucheband estate . In 1678 he succeeded Maximilian as commander in Lietzen after the death of his father. In 1678 he sold his shares in Eichow and the manor Papitz with Ruben to Seyfried von Loeben on Krieschow , Kunersdorf and Limberg . In 1693 at the latest, he became Senior of the Johanniterballei Brandenburg in Sonnenburg and, in this function, on February 24, 1693, proposed the elected master master, Margrave Karl Philipp von Brandenburg-Schwedt, first to the Knight of the Knights of St. John and then introduced him as master master. The new master master died two years later and Adam Georg von Schlieben also introduced the following master master Albrecht Friedrich von Brandenburg-Schwedt into his office. Friedrich Wilhelm accepted him as a chamberlain and soon after made him court and legation councilor . King Friedrich I valued his services; even as elector he promoted him to the Privy Council . On July 12, 1704 - now as King in Prussia - he raised him to the rank of count.

Adam Georg von Schlieben was married twice. On November 6, 1663, he married Christine Sophie, daughter of Johannes von Vorhauer, Elector of Brandenburg, heir to Klein Drenzig , Schöneiche , Plesse , Groß Bösitz and Wallwitz in what was then Gubenische Kreis . His wife died on January 30th, 1673. The marriage had four children, two of whom died early:

  • Son, died early
  • Daughter, died early
  • Margarethe, married to Friedrich Jakob von Götz (en) on Grüntal and Wollenberg
  • Lucia Maria, married to Heinrich von Flemming, Rittmeister on Martenstein , 2nd marriage to Stephan Friedrich von Arnim on Zichow .

His second marriage was on April 16, 1677 in Alt Tucheband Charlotte, daughter of Ehwald Joachim von Flemming, director of the Wollin district and heir to Böcke , Ribbertow , Drammin , Basentien , Leussin, Sager, Bomgarten, Coldemantz, Klötzin and Schwirsen in Western Pomerania . The marriage resulted in eight children, but five of them died in infancy:

He died on October 2, 1708 in Lietzen, his wife Charlotte had already died on April 7, 1708. Both spouses were buried in cloth tape in the hereditary funeral.
