history

Adenstedt got its name from a personal name. The ending "stedt" indicates that it is a very old settlement that developed early on into a seat of a Gogergericht, where bailiffs and forest officials lived. The Thiestein, which is still preserved in the street of the same name, is a reminder of this former place of justice. The oldest writings come from the life of Bishop Godehard von Hildesheim . The bishop often enjoyed staying in Adenstedt, even shortly before his death in 1038.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Adenstedt had 657 inhabitants.

On March 1, 1974, the communities Grafelde and Sellenstedt were incorporated.

Adenstedt belonged to 31 December 2004 the Region of Hanover , which was dissolved as a result of administrative reform at the end of this date.

On November 1, 2016, the Sibbesse Samtgemeinde , to which Adenstedt also belonged, was transformed into the Sibbesse Samtgemeinde .

Adenstedt coat of arms
Blasonierung : "On Blue a silver stone table ( Thiestein ) before to approach the branches visible, marked with Linde leaves silver true tree ."
Foundation of the coat of arms: The thing of the Flenithigau , which later lived on in a Freiending for a long time , has gathered in Adenstedt since prehistoric days. The Thiestein, the mark of this people's court of justice, has been preserved in the middle of the village as a witness to bygone legal customs. Based on this fact and the rich traditions of the former Gauding, this coat of arms was designed and chosen by the community.

The church

Buildings

  • The evangelical church in Adenstedt, already mentioned in a document in 1022, was mentioned in the 12th century as the seat of an archdeaconate and was rebuilt in 1736–1738. This archdeaconate was dissolved in the archdeaconate of Alfeld before 1313. Inside, apart from the pulpit altar from 1736 to 1738, the wooden barrel vault is also noteworthy. The church mentioned in 1022 was then consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul. The church was rebuilt from 1736 to 1738 and inside there is a memorial stone from 1612.
