Adrian Lukis

Adrian Lukis (born March 28, 1957 in Birmingham ) is a British theater and film actor .

Life

Adrian Lukis was born in Birmingham in 1957. He then moved with his family to Australia , where he grew up in Adelaide . When he was nine years old, the family returned to England , where Lukis went to school in Devon . He then studied drama at the University of Hull , where director Anthony Minghella was one of his lecturers. Lukis then went abroad for almost three years. He traveled through Australia and Southeast Asia and returned to England in the early 1980s. At the Drama Studio in Ealing , he took an additional acting course for a year. He made his theatrical debut at the Nottingham Playhouse in 1982 in the play Something Wicked This Way Comes , an adaptation of Ray Bradbury's novel Evil Comes on Quiet Shoes .

In order to secure himself financially, he appeared regularly on British television from the late 1980s, including in Caribbean Affair , an episode of the Miss Marple television series . From 1992 to 1993 he performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and London.

He is internationally known for his portrayal of the hypocritical George Wickham in the BBC television multi-parter Pride and Prejudice (1995) with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth . From 1997 to 1999 he then played the role of Dr. Shearer in 35 episodes of the television series Peak Practice . After that, he also got small supporting roles in cinema productions, such as 7 seconds (2005) or Nightwatching (2007); but he continued to play the theater. In 2001 he played the title role of Shakespeare's Macbeth in Salisbury . In 2004 he played a manic-depressive drug addict in Cloaca by Maria Goos at the Old Vic Theater , directed by Kevin Spacey . In 2005 he played the C. K. Dexter Haven in the play The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry, alongside Jennifer Ehle in the role of Tracy Lord .

He has a daughter with his wife Michelle. They live together in London.
