Adrian Veideman (born April 13, 1983 in Sicamous , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been playing for the Stavanger Oilers in the GET-ligaen since June 2014 .
Career
Adrian Veideman began his career at the age of 18 with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the British Columbia Hockey League . There he played from 2001 to 2003 and was always the best defender on points. In 2003 Veideman went to the University of Denver and played for the Denver Pioneers ice hockey team. He won the National Collegiate Athletic Association championship in his rookie season . Paul Stastny strengthened the team for the 2004/05 season . The Pioneers then first won the championship of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and later repeated the victory in the NCAA. Veidemann stayed two more seasons in Denver and was able to achieve 59 scorer points in his four years .
For the 2007/08 season, the Canadian signed his first professional contract with the Portland Pirates from the American Hockey League and received an invitation to the rookie camp of National Hockey League partner Anaheim Ducks . Veideman spent most of the season with the Augusta Lynx from the ECHL . There he was by far the most successful defender and came to a total of twelve games in the AHL for the Portland Pirates, including six games in the play-offs . The next year Veideman moved to the Iowa Chops , where he was also able to convince. In the summer of 2009, the Canadian speculated on a contract with the opportunity to play in the NHL. He first signed with the Peoria Rivermen from the AHL and was invited to the St. Louis Blues training camp on September 12 . After six days and a few test matches, the Blues sent him back to the farm team , as top talents like Alex Pietrangelo were more convincing in the fight for places on the team . The Rivermen only played 14 games by the end of the year, also due to the great competition on the defensive position.
On January 7, 2010, Veideman asked his club to terminate the contract because he received an offer from Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League . They were looking for a replacement for the injured Jon Insana . A day later, the Sauerland announced the commitment of Veideman, who had been in the focus of Roosters manager Karsten Mende before the start of the season . In the first games he still showed problems adapting to European ice hockey, which Veideman was able to turn off especially in the last ten games of the season, scoring 8 points. After missing the play-off, the Roosters announced their interest in a contract extension with the Canadian. On May 28, 2010, Veideman extended his contract for one year. For the 2011/12 season he was signed by EHC Linz from the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga , with which he promptly became Austrian champions . Nevertheless, he moved to the Vienna Capitals after this season .
Veideman is considered a flexible player with good skating skills, who can help his team off the blue line, especially in power play. Until 2007 he played partly as a striker, but since the beginning of his professional career Veideman has preferred his defensive position.
