geography

Ahnsbeck is located on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath, 10 km east of Celle.

The largest neighboring municipality is Lachendorf , where the seat of the joint municipality is also located. The neighboring town of Beedenbostel , the former seat of the district bailiff and the parish, has the greatest historical significance .

history

The clustered village of Ahnsbeck is first mentioned in a sales deed from 1197 as "Alrebekesa". Then around 1240 Adenesbeke and 1278 Adensbeke , then later again Adenesbeke , which eventually became Ahnsbeck . The name in its translation "Erlenbachs-Aue" indicates the original location in a floodplain on the alder -lined stream. The municipal coat of arms reflects the place name and shows an alder tree over a stream with a wolf tang underneath .

The community is structured in a rural way. After the designation of two larger building areas, it has developed into an attractive and cozy place to live in the last ten years, without losing its originally rural-village character. In the past few years, businesses from various industries have settled in the Nordburger Weg industrial park .

Ahnsbeck belonged to the former administrative district of Lüneburg until December 31, 2004 , which was dissolved as a result of an administrative reform at the end of this date. For this reason, many administrative procedures are still carried out via the administrative district of Lüneburg.
