Albert Abubakirowitsch Galejew ( Russian Альберт Абубакирович Галеев ; born October 19, 1940 in Ufa ) is a Tatar - Russian astrophysicist and university professor .

Life

Galejew began studying in 1957 at the Radio Technology - Faculty of the Moscow Energy Institute . As a student, he became enthusiastic about sambo martial arts and became a Moscow master. In 1961 he moved to the newly founded Novosibirsk State University (NGU). In addition to his studies, he worked at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Department of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)). In 1963 he completed his studies as the first graduate of the NGU.

From 1971 Galeev taught at the chair of cosmos physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1980 appointment as professor). He received his doctorate in physical-mathematical sciences . From 1973 he headed the Department of Physics of Cosmic Plasma at the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI-AN-SSSR). In 1987 he became a corresponding member of the AN-SSSR. In 1988 he became director of the IKI-AN-SSSR. In 1992 he was elected a real member of the RAN. In 2002 he was succeeded by Lev Matveyevich Seljony as director of the now IKI-RAN, while Galejew is honorary director of the IKI-RAN. He is a member of the Science Council for the Physics of the Solar System .

Galeev developed the theory of the weak interaction of plasma waves . Together with Roald Sinnurowitsch Sagdejew , he developed the neoclassical transport theory for the tokamak . Galeev developed the theory of reconnection in a magnetosphere and showed that ions are accelerated to energies of the order of 1 MeV . He developed the theory of the Alfvén phenomenon in the ionization of a dilute gas by a magnetically stabilized plasma flow. Galejews description of the loading of the solar wind with comets ions showed that while transshipment of the ions in the comet tail plays an important role. Galeev proposed a theory that the solar wind from coronal holes is accelerated by Alfvén waves. Independently of Donald Lynden-Bell, Galeev concluded in 1979 that magnetic eruptions can occur in accretion disks . With his publications he achieved an h-index of 36.

Galejew is an External Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen , a member of the Advisory Board of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics , a member of the Academia Europaea , a member of the International Academy of Astronautics and a member of the Moscow Ziolkowski - Academy of Cosmonauts .
