Albert Stief

Albert Stief (born March 19, 1920 in Sankt Ingbert , † September 10, 1998 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was Minister and Chairman of the Committee of the Workers and Peasants Inspection (ABI).

Life

After attending primary school from 1934 to 1938, Stief completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer in Munich . He worked in this profession until 1939. Then, after a short time in the German Labor Front, in 1939 , Stief was drafted into the Wehrmacht . In this he served until January 2, 1943, when he defected to the Red Army with the rank of corporal . In Soviet captivity was a member of the step- NKFD who attended Antifa School no. 27 in Krasnogorsk and thereafter as a front officer used the NKFD.

In 1945, Stief joined the re-established KPD and initially worked as a clerk and department head at the state administration of Saxony . From 1946 to 1948 he was head of the Elsterhorst resettlement camp near Hoyerswerda . Then Stief moved to the SED district leadership in Hoyerswerda, initially as a department head and later as a secretary. In 1950 he was appointed to the council of the Hoyerswerda district, where he acted as head of department and district councilor for economics. In 1952 the SED sent him to the CPSU party college in Moscow for a year . After returning to the GDR, Stief was appointed First Secretary of the SED district leadership in Cottbus in August 1953 , which he remained until June 1969. During this time, between 1962 and 1965, he completed a distance learning course at the Berlin School of Economics (HfÖ), where he qualified as a Dr. rer. oec. PhD. From 1957 to 1969 he was a member of the Cottbus district assembly

He also became a candidate in 1960 and then a member of the Central Committee of the SED in 1963 . The People's Chamber was one step from 1963 until March 1990, from 1971 he was a member of the Committee of National Defense of the People's Chamber.

From 1969 to 1971 he was deputy minister for the guidance and control of district and county councils . From 1971 to 1977 Stief was State Secretary of the Committee of the Workers and Peasants Inspection and was also appointed to the Committee for National Defense, to which he was a member until 1989. From 1977 onwards he was Minister and Chairman of the Committee of the Workers and Peasants Inspection. Stief officially resigned from this post on November 22, 1989 for health reasons.
