Werner Walde

Werner Walde (born February 12, 1926 in Döbeln ; † June 26, 2010 in Cottbus ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Cottbus and a candidate for the Politburo of the SED Central Committee in the GDR .

Life

Walde came from a working-class family. After attending primary school in Döbeln- Großbauchlitz from 1940 to 1943, he trained as an administrative clerk . He was Oberhordenführer of the German Youth and Oberrottenführer of the Hitler Youth . From June 1943 to April 1945 he was employed in the Reich Labor Service in Poland, France and the Netherlands, most recently as chief foreman . In April 1945 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht as a soldier , at the beginning of May 1945 he was first American and then British prisoners of war in Hagenow , which he spent in Eutin from June to July 1945 .

After his release he worked as a farm laborer for a farmer in Westerode / Duderstadt district until August 1945 . From August 1945 to December 1950 he was an employee of the social insurance fund in Döbeln. In 1945 he became a member of the FDGB and was a member of the works union management from 1946 to 1950. In February 1946 he joined the SPD (later SED) and in 1948 the FDJ . In 1950 he attended the State Party School in Meissen , where he worked as an assistant and teacher until 1953. From 1953 to 1955 he was deputy or acting headmaster of the SED district party school in Cottbus.

From 1954 to 1960 he completed a correspondence course to become a social scientist at the party college “Karl Marx” . From 1955 to 1961 he was an employee or department head of the SED district leadership in Cottbus , from August 1961 to February 1964 first secretary of the SED district leadership Senftenberg and a member of the district council. From 1964 to 1966 he studied at the Berlin School of Economics with a degree in economics. From April 1966 to June 1969 he was secretary for organizational and cadre work and second secretary of the SED district leadership in Cottbus. From June 1969 to November 9, 1989 he was the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Cottbus.

From June 19, 1971 (8th Party Congress) to December 1989, he was a member of the Central Committee of the SED. From November 1971 to 1989 Walde was a member of the Cottbus District Assembly and a member of the People's Chamber . From May 22, 1976 (9th Party Congress) until his removal from this office in November 1989, he was a candidate for the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED. On 20./21. January 1990 he was expelled from the SED- PDS .
