Alena Wassileuna Abramchuk ( Belarusian Алена Васілеўна Абрамчук , English transcription Alena Abramchuk ; born February 14, 1988 in Szeged as Alena Kopez ) is a Belarusian shot putter and discus thrower .

Athletic career

In 2006 Alena Kopez took part for the first time in a major international event, the Junior World Championships in Beijing . There she was eliminated with both the disc and the ball in the qualification. In 2007 she won the silver medal in the shot put at the Junior European Championships and took 14th place in the discus throw. In addition, she reached fifth place at the World Military Games that year. In 2008 and 2009 she won the silver medal at the European Winter Throwing Cup in the U23 age group. In 2009 she won the bronze medal in the shot put at the World Student Games in Belgrade , as well as at the U23 European Championships in Kaunas a few weeks later.

After her comeback season in 2011, Kopez qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Paris , but was eliminated from the qualification there. At the Universiade this time she finished fifth with a kicked 17.07 m. In 2012, she narrowly missed a final place at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul , finishing ninth in the qualification, which she was denied by Nadseja Astaptschuk, who was later disqualified for doping . In 2013 she again took part in the European Indoor Championships , where she won the bronze medal, which later became silver because of the doping disqualification of Russian Jewgenija Kolodko . Kopez also qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where she finished twelfth in the final. In 2014 she was eliminated from the qualification at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , but qualified for the European Championships in Zurich in August of the same year. This she finished in ninth place with a kicked 17.65 m. In the 2015 indoor season, she secured fourth place at the European Indoor Championships in Prague . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she qualified for the final and finished eleventh there.

In 2013 Kopez became the national champion in the shot put and in 2015 in the discus throw. In 2011, 2013 and 2014 she was also the Belarusian indoor champion in the shot put.
