Alexander Fransson (born April 2, 1994 in Norrköping ) is a Swedish football player . The central midfielder is currently under contract with IFK Norrköping .

Club career

Lindö FF

In his youth, Fransson first played for Lindö FF, a club from Lindö, a suburb of Norrköping with around 5000 residents.

IFK Norrköping

In 2008 he moved to the IFK Norrköping youth academy , where he played in various youth teams until 2012. He made his debut in the Swedish first division on April 1, 2013 in a 2-1 away win against Mjällby AIF on the first day of the 2013 championship on the day before his 19th birthday. In the 2013 season (in Sweden each season starts in spring and ends in autumn) he played in 18 league games (without scoring) and in two cup games (one goal). In the 2014 season he came to 26 league games in which he scored two goals, as well as four cup games (without a goal). In his first two seasons in the men's area, he had finished 9th and 12th in the table with Norrköping. The 2015 season was the most successful for the club in a long time and Fransson became Swedish champions with his team. Norrköping last managed to do this in 1989 . Fransson contributed significantly to this 13th championship for the club with five goals in 29 missions. In his last competitive game for IFK Norrköping, he scored 1-0 in the third minute of the game on November 8, 2015 in the game for the Swedish Supercup in the home stadium against the cup winners and runner-up IFK Göteborg . The final score was 3-0 and so Fransson was able to win his second title in men's football shortly after the championship.

FC Basel

On January 2, 2016, the Swiss champions FC Basel announced that Fransson had signed a four and a half year contract until June 30, 2020. He got the jersey with the number 15 in Basel. He made his league debut on February 14, 2016 in a 4-0 away win against Grasshopper Club Zurich at the Letzigrund stadium in Zurich when he came on in the 90th minute. He scored his first goal at St. Jakob-Park to 2-1 on February 21 in a 5-1 home win against Vaduz . Under coach Urs Fischer , Fransson won the championship title with FCB at the end of the 2015/16 championship and the 2016/17 championship . For the club it was the 8th title in a row and the 20th title in the club's history. They also won the cup competition on May 25, 2017 with three to zero against Sion and thus the double .

On July 4th, 2018 Fransson moved back to his hometown club IFK Norrköping , where he signed a three-year contract.

National team

Fransson made his debut for Sweden on January 6, 2016 at the Armed Forces Stadium in Abu Dhabi , United Arab Emirates , in a 1-1 draw with Estonia . He was in the starting line-up and was replaced after 55 minutes. His second game followed in the same place four days later on January 10, when Sweden beat Finland 3-0 . Fransson came on in the 62nd minute.
