Alexander Genze (born March 2, 1971 in Qaraghandy , Kazakh SSR ) is a former German - Kazakh ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Bietigheim Steelers in the 2nd Bundesliga .
Career
Genze began his career with the Soviet second division club Awtomobilist Karaganda , for whom he played first games in the 1987/88 season . In the seasons 1989/90 and 1990/91 he ran for the Soviet second division club SKA Sverdlovsk . For the 1991/92 season , the defender moved to the German second division club EC Ratingen , with whom he was promoted to the ice hockey Bundesliga in their first year together . After two and a half years in Ratingen, the left shooter signed a contract with league competitor EC Hedos Munich during the 1993/94 season , for whose outsourced professional team Maddogs Munich he played in the German Ice Hockey League until they went bankrupt in 1995 . Genze spent the rest of the 1994/95 season at EV Landshut , after the season he moved to the reigning German champion Kölner Haie . After two years in the cathedral city, the defender went to the second highest German division, where he was on the ice for the next three seasons for the Heilbronn EC and later for the Hamburg Crocodiles .
With ERC Ingolstadt , who signed him in 2000, Alexander Genze was promoted to the DEL in 2002 , but returned to the 2nd Bundesliga after just one year , where he played for EHC Wolfsburg . With the Lower Saxony, the German-Kazakh made the leap into the top division again, which he was able to achieve for the second time in the 2007/08 season after the Grizzly Adams license was withdrawn in the meantime .
From the 2010/11 season until 2013 Genze is part of the SC Bietigheim-Bissingen squad . In 2013 Genze finished his career as a professional ice hockey player.
