Alexander von Stuckrad

Franz Friedrich Alexander von Stuckrad (born February 20, 1814 in Rhine , † January 2, 1895 in Naumburg (Saale) ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Alexander was a son of the Prussian Lieutenant General Leopold von Stuckrad and his wife Charlotte, born von Drigalski (1785-1854). His older brother Otto (1803–1888) was a Prussian major general , Leonhard (1808–1885) a Prussian lieutenant general.

Military career

Stuckrad visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . On August 10, 1831, he was transferred to the 30th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a second lieutenant . In 1835/38 he was sent to the General War School for further training . This was followed by a command as an educator at the Berlin Cadet House. With the promotion to prime lieutenant he came in the same capacity to the cadet house in Graudenz . On April 4, 1846 he was transferred to the 4th Infantry Regiment and from March 1847 Stuckrad acted as a company commander with the III. Battalion. In August 1848 he was promoted to captain and company commander before Stuckrad was transferred to Ortelsburg in mid-March 1853 as a major and commander of the Landwehr battalion in the 34th Infantry Regiment . This was followed from March 12, 1857 to January 17, 1859 as a commander of the Fusilier Battalion in the 24th Infantry Regiment . Then Stuckrad was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in the 13th Infantry Regiment and at the beginning of July 1860 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . As such, Stuckrad was appointed commander of the 1st Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment on August 23, 1860 , and was promoted to colonel on October 18, 1861 in this position . Under position à la suite of the regiment, he became commander of the 29th Infantry Brigade in Koblenz on January 4, 1866 and major general on June 8, 1866. In the war that followed against Austria , Stuckrad led his brigade in the battles near Münchengrätz and Königgrätz . On 24 May 1870 he was awarded the character as a Lieutenant General with the statutory board for disposition .

For the duration of the mobile relationship on the occasion of the war against France , Stuckrad was reactivated in 1870/71 and acted as commander of Berlin and as head of the rural gendarmerie . After the end of the war, Emperor Wilhelm I awarded him the star of the Order of the Red Eagle II on August 18, 1871 with oak leaves and swords on the ring.

family

Stuckrad married on August 30, 1849 in Berlin with Ida Kranichfeld (1827–1907), daughter of Professor Dr. med. Friedrich Wilhelm Kranichfeld. The marriage remained childless.
