Karl Friedrich Leopold von Stuckrad (born February 2, 1808 in Gronden , † July 14, 1885 in Ludwigslust ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Leopold was a son of the Prussian Lieutenant General Leopold von Stuckrad and his wife Charlotte, née von Drigalski (1785-1854). His older brother Otto (1803–1888) became a Prussian major general, the younger brother Alexander (1814–1895) became a Prussian lieutenant general.

Military career

Stuckrad visited the Berlin Cadet House and on April 5, 1826 was transferred as a Second Lieutenant to the Kaiser Alexander Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army . In 1830/32 he was assigned to the Berlin Cadet House as an educator. From 1836 to 1840 he was employed as a teacher at the United Guard Division School and during this time Stuckrad worked in the same capacity at the Kadettenanstalt Berlin in 1837/39. In mid-March 1841 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and worked from January 1845 to mid-November 1847 as an examiner at the Obermilitary Examinatonskommission. Then Stuckrad was promoted to captain to company commander. As such, he was involved in the suppression of the barricade uprising in Berlin in March 1848 .

With the reservation that he could be re-employed in the Prussian Army, Stuckrad took his leave on November 20, 1848 . He then joined the Schleswig-Holstein Army and was employed as a major and commander in the 3rd Holstein Jäger Corps. In the battles against Denmark in 1849/50 he took part in the battles near Schleswig , Atzbüll , Gravenstein , Auenbüll , Kolding and Fredericia and was awarded the Red Eagle Order IV Class with Swords for his behavior with Gudsoe .

On April 11, 1850 Stuckrad returned to the Prussian Army, was aggregated as captain of the Emperor Alexander Grenadier Regiment and commanded as President of the Examination Commission for Portepeefähnriche of the Guard Corps . With a patent from April 18, 1847 he resigned on March 15, 1851 in the troop service and acted as a company commander in the 16th Infantry Regiment . From May 25, 1852 to November 13, 1854, Stuckrad was major in command of the 2nd Battalion in the 17th Landwehr Regiment in Düsseldorf . He was then appointed commander of the 7th Jäger Battalion and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in this position in April 1857 . On July 25, 1857, he was transferred to Stettin as Chief of the General Staff of the II Army Corps . Stuckrad was promoted to colonel at the end of May 1859 and was commander of the 37th Infantry Regiment (5th Reserve Regiment) in Mainz from October 3, 1859 . In 1861 Stuckrad took part in the coronation of Wilhelm I as King of Prussia in Königsberg . In position à la suite of his regiment, he was appointed commander of the 16th Infantry Brigade in Erfurt on January 9, 1864 . In this position he was awarded the Commander's Cross 1st Class of the House Order of the White Falcon in November 1864 .

On the occasion of the German War in 1866, Stuckrad was in command of Erfurt for the duration of the mobile relationship . On September 20, he was given the character of Lieutenant General and on October 13, 1866, he was put up for disposal with the statutory pension . For the duration of the war against France in 1870/71 Stuckrad was the commanding general of the Deputy General Command of the VIII Army Corps in Koblenz . After the end of the mobile relationship, Emperor Wilhelm I awarded him the star for the Order of the Red Eagle II on October 13, 1871 with oak leaves and swords.

family

Stuckrad married on July 25, 1839 in Berlin with Auguste Kühl (1820-1884), a daughter of the rentier Gottfried Heinrich Kühl. The following children were born from the marriage:
