Alfred Scholz (born February 11, 1921 in Groß Ullersdorf , Czechoslovakia , † August 11, 1978 in East Berlin ) was a German secret service agent and from 1975 until his death Deputy Minister for State Security of the GDR .

Life

The son of a carpenter attended secondary school, trained as a druggist from 1936 to 1939 and then worked as a laboratory assistant. In 1941 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and in 1942 was taken prisoner by the Soviets. He was sent to an Antifa school there in 1943 and took part in 1944 as a member of the National Committee for Free Germany as a partisan and reconnaissance officer in the Dyma partisan brigade in Belarus , and later in the Danzig area in the fight against the National Socialist Wehrmacht. In 1945 he went to the Soviet occupation zone and became a member of the KPD and with the compulsory unification of the SPD and KPD in 1946 a member of the SED . He was employed by the police and in 1946 was head of the Rostock city ​​police .

In 1949 he became head of the Intendantur department of the Mecklenburg State Police , then department head in the administration for the protection of the Mecklenburg economy , which in February 1950 was renamed the Mecklenburg State Administration of the MfS . In 1950 he became head of Department / HA IX, the investigative body of the MfS in Berlin , and from 1956 head of HVA-HA II, which was responsible for researching the Western Allies. In 1958 he became head of the minister's working group. From 1966 to 1968 he completed an external course of study at the university of the Ministry for State Security , from which he graduated with the title of qualified lawyer . As head of the working group of the minister's area of ​​responsibility "S" , he was responsible for murder plans . For the initial period of a war against the Federal Republic of Germany, he planned in 1972 the destruction of target objects of the Federal German infrastructure and individual terror . Stasi fighters should "increasingly use the terrorist and violent crime scene to use this camouflage and cover to prepare their combat tasks". He got even closer to his boss Erich Mielke when he was appointed first deputy chairman of the Berlin soccer club Dynamo in 1966 . In 1975 he was promoted to lieutenant general and became deputy minister. In 1977 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.

Scholz died at the age of 57. His urn was in the grave conditioning Pergolenweg the Memorial of the Socialists in the Central Cemetery Friedrichsfelde in Berlin-Lichtenberg buried.
