Alice Brauner (born January 12, 1966 in Berlin ) is a German journalist and film producer .

Life

Alice Brauner is the daughter of the film producer Artur Brauner . After graduating from high school , she studied modern history, political science and Romance studies at the Free University of Berlin and then volunteered at the left-liberal weekly newspaper Spandauer Volksblatt . After working as an editor for various print media, she became an interviewer and speaker at the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation . The foundation established by Steven Spielberg archives reports from survivors of the Shoah .

This was followed in 1999 by a doctorate at the Center for Research on Antisemitism at the Technical University of Berlin on " Anti- democratic and anti-Semitic tendencies in the New Right in Germany" with Wolfgang Benz .

In 1999 she became the moderator of the political debate Auf den Punkt Berlin , which TV Berlin broadcast. A year later, Brauner got her own talk show Alice on the same broadcaster , to which she invited a prominent guest from politics, culture, business, media or sport once a week.

She switched to n-tv in 2001 . In her program page 17 (from 2001 to 2003 on n-tv) she presented political books and their authors, among other things. The book talk on page 17 ran parallel for a few months on XXP - Spiegel-TV and was broadcast there every second Saturday at 10 p.m.

In 2006 she started working as a film producer at the side of her father Artur Brauner. She acted as associate producer in the award-winning CCC film art production The Last Train .

Since 2008 she has been managing director of the CCC Filmkunst subsidiary CCC Cinema und Television GmbH. In this capacity she developed the TV film So ein Schlamassel with the Munich author Daniel Wolf on behalf of ARD Degeto . In February 2009 filming began on this, her first own production, which premiered on January 29, 2010 on ARD.

In May 2009 she founded CCC Cinema und Television GmbH, Munich branch.

She is responsible for the development of cinema material for CCC Filmkunst, including the CCC production Wunderkinder , the tragic comedy Auf das Leben! , which celebrated its world premiere on August 27, 2014 at the film festival in Montreal and the movie CRESCENDO #makemusicnotwar, whose world premiere took place on July 4 at the Munich Film Festival 2019. On January 16, 2020, the music drama started in cinemas nationwide.

In 2015 she began the comprehensive renovation of its own CCC film studios in Berlin-Spandau , in which the entire studio portion of the first German Netflix series DARK was filmed from January to March 2017 . In 2017, the successful UFA miniseries Ku'damm 56 will continue under the title Ku'damm 59 . For this, too, the entire studio part was shot in the CCC film studios. From August 2018 to February 2019, the Sat.1 daily soap All or nothing was filmed in the CCC film studios. The studios in Berlin-Spandau are booming again. Two Netflix series as well as the 3rd season of the KU'DAMM miniseries were shot in the CCC film studios in 2019/20.

In June 2019 the journalist was back in front of the camera and moderated the new TV format "bilder der geschichte" for phoenix, which was broadcast on PHOENIX in July and August, and on September 3rd as host for Arte in the two-part documentary "Jüdisch in Europe". In 2020, seasons 3 and 4 of the phoenix program "bilder der geschichte" will be broadcast at irregular intervals.

Alice Brauner is married to the Munich entrepreneur Michael Zechbauer and has two sons.

She is a member of the German Film Academy , has been a member of the jury of the German Audio Film Award since 2017 and is a member of the jury for the 2020 Shimon Peres Award.
