Alin Moldoveanu

Alin George Moldoveanu (born May 3, 1983 in Focşani ) is a Romanian sports shooter . He was an Olympic champion in 2012.

Moldoveanu studies psychology at the Spiru Haret University in Bucharest . The athlete who is 1.73 meters or 1.74 meters tall, depending on the source, has been involved in shooting since 1996. The following year he took part in a competition for the first time. The right-hander, who uses the right eye to aim, belongs to the CS Dinamo club in Bucharest . His personal trainer is Marin Olimpiu. In the national team he is trained by Sorin Babii .

In 2005 he took second place each at the World Cups in Munich and Milan . He achieved the same placement in 2007 at this event in Bangkok . Moldoveanu took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . There he just missed a medal in the 10-meter air rifle competition with 4th place. In the same year he won the gold medal at the World Cup in Munich and came second at the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro .

He was also part of the Romanian squad for the 2012 Summer Olympics . In London , Moldoveanu, again competing in the 10-meter air rifle competition, was Olympic champion with a result of 702.1 total points ahead of Niccolò Campriani (701.5) from Italy and the Indian Gagan Narang (701.1). Moldoveanu finished 19th at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
