Ernst Eduard Allwiel von Sommerfeld and Falkenhayn (born July 2, 1824 in Königsberg in the Neumark , † July 16, 1905 in Bad Warmbrunn ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Allwiel was a son of the Prussian captain and later postmaster Rudolf von Sommerfeld and Falkenhayn (1787–1839) and his wife Henriette, née Lorenz (1790–1849).

Military career

After attending grammar school in Königsberg in the Neumark and secondary school in Gdansk , Sommerfeld received private lessons in Thorn . He then joined the 33rd Infantry Regiment (1st Reserve Regiment) of the Prussian Army as a musketeer on October 20, 1844 and was promoted to Second Lieutenant by mid-April 1849 . On September 3, 1850, with a patent from May 30, 1848, he was transferred to the 18th Infantry Regiment . From November 15, 1850 to February 21, 1851, Sommerfeld was adjutant of the Erstaz Battalion of the 27th Infantry Brigade .
