Amphoe Nam Som ( Thai : อำเภอ น้ำโสม ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the northwest of the Udon Thani Province . The province of Udon Thani is located in Isan , the northeast region of Thailand .

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Na Yung and Ban Phue in the province of Udon Thani, Amphoe Suwannakhuha the province of Nong Bua Lamphu Province and Amphoe Pak Chom the province of Loei .

history

Nam Som was initially set up as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) on May 12, 1969 by separating the two tambon Nam Som and Na Yung from the Ban Phue district . The third tambon Nong Waeng was added on July 4, 1969. Nam Som was promoted to Amphoe on April 1, 1974.

Local administration

There are two small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:

  • Na Ngua (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นา งัว ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Na Ngua and Si Samran,
  • Nam Som (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล น้ำโสม ), consisting of further parts of the Tambon Si Samran and parts of Nam Som.

There are also seven “Tambon Administrative Organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Administrative Organizations) for the tambon in the district that do not belong to any city.
