Amphoe Chai Wan ( Thai อำเภอ ไชยวาน ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) in the southeast of Udon Thani Province . The Udon Thani Province is located in the northwestern part of Isan , the northeast region of Thailand .

Neighboring districts (from the south clockwise) Amphoe Wang Sam Mo , Si That , Ku Kaeo , Nong Han in Udon Thani province, as well as the Amphoe Sawang Daen Din and Song Dao the province of Sakon Nakhon .

history

The area of today's Chai Wan was previously part of the Nong Han district . On January 3, 1977, a small district ( King Amphoe ) was established from the two tambon Chai Wan and Nong Lak, which were separated from the Nong Han district. In 1979 a third Tamobn Kham Lo was established and a fourth Tambon Phon Sung was carved out from Nong Han. It was upgraded to a full amphoe on February 1, 1988.

Local administration

There are three small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:

Chai Wan ( เทศบาล ตำบล ไชยวาน ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Chai Wan,
Phon Sung ( เทศบาล ตำบล โพน สูง ), consisting of the entire tambon Phon Sung,
Nong Waeng Kaem Hom ( เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง แวง แก้ม หอม ), consisting of further parts of the Tambon Chai Wan.

There are also two “Tambon Administrative Organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) for the tambon in the district that do not belong to any city.
