Lübeck District Court
The Lübeck District Court is a German court of ordinary jurisdiction . It is one of 22 district courts of the State of Schleswig-Holstein .
Seat and District of the Court
The court has its seat in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck .
The judicial district covers the area of the following cities and municipalities.

Until 2008, the judicial district included Groß Grönau and Krummesse . Since then, Groß Grönau has belonged to the district of the Ratzeburg District Court . The Lübeck district of Krummesse as part of Lübeck-St. Jürgen stayed in the Lübeck judicial district. The part of Krummesse belonging to the Berkenthin office was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Ratzeburg District Court.
The Schleswig District Court has been the central dunning court for the Lübeck judicial district since 2006 .
management
The Lübeck District Court is a presidential court , which means that it is managed by a president instead of a director. Carsten Löbbert has been President of the District Court since January 1, 2016, succeeding Dirk Stojan, who retired at the end of September 2015.
Courthouse
Due to the ongoing renovation work on the Lübeck court house at Am Burgfeld 7, which has been ongoing since August 1, 2017, the court is divided between two additional branches. The registry court , which is responsible for the entire district of the Lübeck Regional Court , is located at Jerusalemsberg 8 . Another branch is located at Glashüttenweg 44-48 .
Superior courts
The district court of Lübeck is superior to the district court . As a presidential court, however, it is independent in its administration. In the further stages of appeal which are Schleswig-Holstein Higher Regional Court in Schleswig and the Federal Court in Karlsruhe superior.
decisions
The so-called cannabis ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court was one of the proceedings with which the district court was involved in the first instance .
Lübeck practice
In proceedings relating to custody and access rights , the court applies the “Lübeck practice” based on the Cochem model , in which the youth welfare office, educational counseling centers, lawyers and family judges cooperate. The aim is the well-being of the child and maintaining contact with both parents.
