Career as a coach

Promotion trainer in Wattenscheid, Velbert and Uerdingen

From 2002 to 2010 Pawlak worked in the youth department of FC Schalke 04 . For the 2010/11 season he became the first men's team of SG Wattenscheid 09 , which in the preseason from the fünftklassigen NRW-Liga in the Westphalia League was staying. After a 6th place in the first season succeeded at the end of the 2011/12 season, the return to the fifth division and at the end of the 2012/13 season, the march through to the Regionalliga West . After relegation in the 2013/14 season , Pawlak left the club.

For the 2014/15 season , Pawlak took over SSVg Velbert , which had been relegated from the Regionalliga West to the Oberliga Niederrhein , and achieved direct promotion as a master. In early April 2016 he was released after six defeats in a row. The SSVg Velbert finished the 2015/16 season without him in 16th place and was relegated.

For the 2016/17 season , Pawlak took over the upper division team of KFC Uerdingen 05 and rose with her as a champion in the Regionalliga West. He was then released from his duties after the season - despite a contract extension in March 2017.

1. FC Cologne

For the 2017/18 season , Pawlak took over the B-Youth (U17) of 1. FC Köln , who played in the B-Junior Bundesliga . In October 2017, he took over the second team that played against relegation in the fourth-class Regionalliga West . Under Pawlak, the team achieved relegation and finished the 2017/18 season on 14th place in the table.

For the 2018/19 season , Pawlak handed the team over to Markus Daun in order to concentrate on the football teacher training. After Daun was released, he took over the team again in November 2018, which, as in the previous year, was in a relegation battle. Pawlak was able to lead the team out of the relegation region in the further course of the 2018/19 season and passed the football teacher training in March 2019.

On April 29, 2019, after the dismissal of Markus Anfang , Pawlak took over the second division team, which was in first place in the table, as interim coach for the last 3 game days of the 2018/19 season . At this point in time, FC was six points ahead of relegation and fourth place. In its first game, FC was able to make the second division championship and the direct re-promotion perfect with a 4-0 win at SpVgg Greuther Fürth .

For the 2019/20 season , Achim Beierlorzer was signed as the new head coach, whose assistant coach Pawlak became. After separating from Beierlorzer in November 2019, Pawlak also remained in the coaching staff under his successor Markus Gisdol .
