Andrés Cea Galán (born August 28, 1965 in Jerez de la Frontera ) is a Spanish organist , harpsichord player , clavichord player , musicologist and organ scholar .

Life

Andrés Cea Galán , born in Andalusia in 1965 , completed his studies in Spain. He then studied further with Jean Boyer in Lille and then with Jean-Claude Zehnder at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis .

Interested in historical instruments, he emerged as a harpsichordist, clavichord player and organist. He also worked as an organ builder in Gerhard Grenzing's workshop in Papiol and was involved in several organ restorations and new builds in Spain and France.

Cea is the author of several musicological treatises in line with his interests in Spanish keyboard music and organs. He submitted his dissertation at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2014 ; with it appears for the first time a detailed study of the Spanish cifra of the 16th to 18th centuries. As an editor , he also made early compositions accessible to today's music practice.

He is the Andalusian Organ Academy (Andalusian Organ Academy) ago. Associated with this is teaching as well as exploring, preserving and making known the historical organs in southern Spain.

As an interpreter as well as a teacher, he is active in Spain, the rest of Europe, America and Japan. He has made numerous radio recordings. His CD recordings feature Spanish organ music in particular, by Antonio de Cabezon and Francisco Correa de Arauxo , among others . They were all created on historical organs , for example in Évora (Portugal), Lerma and Marchena (Spain).
