Andravida-Kyllini ( Greek Ανδραβίδα-Κυλλήνη ( f. Sg. ), Pronunciation : [ anðraˈviða kʲiˈlini ]) is a municipality in the northwest of the Greek peninsula Peloponnese . It was formed on January 1, 2011 from four municipalities, which in turn came into being in 1997 from the merger of 22 smaller municipalities. Not Andravida, the largest of the three small towns in the municipality (4058 Ew.), But Lechena (2927 Ew.) Serves as the administrative seat. Third urban settlement is in the north of the municipality Varda (3070 Ew.).
The Principality of Achaia was ruled from the Andravida-Kyllinis area in the Middle Ages . It comprises the northern part of the rocky peninsula Kyllini with the port of Kyllini and Kastro with the castle Chlemoutsi as well as the coastal land of the plain of Elis in the Ionian Sea, east of Cape Glarentza . Parts of the municipal districts of Lechena and Vouprasia extend south into the hilly interior of the country as far as the Pinios reservoir. Neighboring communities are (starting in the north, clockwise) Dytiki Achaia , Ilida and Pinios .
