Andrea Mandorlini (born July 17, 1960 in Ravenna ) is a former Italian football player and current coach .
Career
As a player
Andrea Mandorlini debuted with Torino Calcio as a professional on February 4, 1979. He left in 1980 Turin and joined Atalanta in the Serie B . 1981 to 1984 he played with Ascoli Calcio . In 1984 he signed with Inter Milan , where he played until 1991. In the shirt of Inter he won the Serie A in 1988/89 and the UEFA Cup in 1990/91 under Giovanni Trapattoni . Mandorlini played at Udinese Calcio from 1991 to 1993 and also ended his career there.
As a trainer
Andrea Mandorlini began his coaching career in 1993 with ASD Manzanese, which was playing in Serie D at the time. He could not prevent the club's relegation from relegation. He then worked as an assistant coach at Ravenna Calcio until 1998 . From 1998 to 1999 he coached the US Triestina . 1999 Mandorlini began his work at Spezia Calcio and blied there until 2002. With Spezia he won the then Serie C2 (now Lega Pro Seconda Divisione ) in his first season 1999/2000, 2002, he missed with Spezia promotion to the Serie B just . After he moved to Vicenza Calcio in 2002 and reached eighth place in the 2002/03 Serie B season , he started working at Atalanta Bergamo. In 2003/04 he led Atalanta to Serie A, but was sacked in 2004/05 due to weak games. His successor was Delio Rossi .
In January 2006, Mandorlini was hired at Serie B club Bologna FC , but released two months later. In December 2006 he took over the Calcio Padova in Serie C1 (today Lega Pro Prima Divisione ). With the club, Mandorlini almost succeeded in promotion after leading him out of relegation places. In July 2007 he took up the position of coach for the 2007/08 Serie A season at AC Siena , but was dismissed on November 12 by an agreement between both sides.
In 2008, Mandorlini was coached for the first time in Serie B club US Sassuolo Calcio , which he was able to lead to seventh place. In June 2009 he left Sassuolo again.
In November 2009 Andra Mandorlini took over the Romanian club CFR Cluj in Liga 1 . In May 2010 he won the Romanian double with Cluj. The Cupa României and the championship title were also Mandorlini's first major successes as a coach. On September 13, 2010, he was released for failure.
On November 9, 2010 Mandorlini signed a contract with Hellas Verona . With that he inherited the unsuccessful Giuseppe Giannini . Mandorlini led the club from the third- tier Lega Pro to Serie A. After five years in office, he was dismissed on November 30, 2015 because Hellas was at the bottom of the table with only six points after 14 matchdays.
In February 2017, Mandorlini took over CFC Genoa . After just two months, Mandorlini was released and replaced by his predecessor Ivan Jurić .
In April 2018 he became the new coach of the US Cremonese .
