Andreas Polyzogopoulos (* December 1981 ) is a Greek jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Polyzogopoulos grew up in Samiko in the west of the Peloponnese peninsula. He started playing guitar at the age of 10 . At the age of 16 he moved to Athens, where he played in rock and blues bands. He soon discovered jazz and studied jazz guitar at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory. In 2000 he switched to the trumpet. In autumn 2002 he moved to the Netherlands to study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam ; He was taught by Markus Stockhausen and Angelo Verploegen , among others . He also attended a workshop with Paolo Fresu .

During his studies in Amsterdam Polyzogopoulos played with various groups and in 2006 founded his “Poly Quartet”, which performed his own compositions. In 2008 the band recorded their debut album Perfumed Dreams and won first place in the “Motives for Jazz” competition in Belgium. In 2010 he toured Europe as a member of the European Youth Jazz Orchestra (BR recording in Munich). As a member of the quintet of Dimitris Kalantzis, he recorded the album Mano's / Jazz Tribute to Manos Hadjidakis for Verve Records in 2011 , which has now reached platinum status . In 2012 Polyzogopoulos founded a new band: bassist Vasilis Stefanopoulos, who was already part of the Poly Quartet , Costis Christodoulou on keyboards and Srdjan Ivanovic on drums; In 2013 they released their first joint album Heart Of The Sun - The Music of Pink Floyd . With this band he toured Europe and also performed in New York City. In 2015 he released the CD Anicca and in 2017 the ambient CD Polypala - One Inch of Love is represented. Polyzogopoulos worked with Jaques Morelenbaum , Tore Brunborg and Michel Portal , but also with Günter Baby Sommer , Tony Lakatos , Psarantonis , Teun Verbruggen , Savina Yannatou , Maria Farantouri , Dulce Pontes , Serge Teyssot Gay, Anne Paceo , Marc Buronfosse, Federico Casagrande, Mauro Gargano, Christophe Panzani , Yantganso, Kostas Theodorou , Yiorgos Kontrafouris, the group Fashion Plagal , Nikos Sidirokastritis, Yiotis Kiourtsoglou, David Lynch , Stavros Lantsias, Haig Yazdjian , Vangelis Katsoulis, Petros Klampanis , Takis Barberis, Thanasis Papakonstantinou , Dionysis Savarachanatan and Tania Giannouli . He has also performed at festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival , the Odessa Jazz Festival, the Banlieues Bleues , the Jazz à la Villette or the JazzFest Berlin .
