Andrew D'Angelo

Andrew D'Angelo (born November 2, 1965 in Greeley (Colorado) ) is an American jazz musician ( bass clarinet , alto saxophone , baritone saxophone ).

Live and act

D'Angelo grew up in Seattle ; there he met Chris Speed and Jim Black before moving to New York City in 1985 . He then worked again with Chris Speed ​​in Boston , where both founded the formation Human Feel with guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel , which was then expanded to include Black; he also played in the Either / Orchestra between 1986 and 2014 . He moved to Brooklyn with Speed ​​and Rosenwinkel in the early 1990s , where they became members of what was then the downtown music scene. D'Angelo also worked in the bands of Erik Friedlander , Bobby Previte , Jamie Saft / Cuong Vu , Reid Anderson , Ed Schuller , in the formation Orange Then Blue and began a long-term collaboration with drummer Matt Wilson . As a composer, D'Angelo wrote for big bands , chamber music, string ensembles and soloists. D'Angelo has recorded three albums with his Trio Morthana ; in January 2008 the album Skadra Degis (Skirl Records) was created, on which he plays in a trio with Jim Black and Trevor Dunn . In his formation Make Music , he plays with trombonist Josh Roseman and tenor saxophonist Bill McHenry . He currently appears in the trio (2019) with Carmen Rothwell and Allan Mednard.
