Andreas "Andy" Ton (born September 21, 1962 ) is a former Italo - Swiss ice hockey player who won the Swiss championship four times during his career with HC Lugano .

Career

Ton started his career in the youngsters of the EHC Uzwil , for whom he soon came to his first assignments in the Fanion team in the first division . In the 1982/83 season he was the top scorer in the league, whereupon he was obliged by the EHC Kloten from the National League A. After just one season he moved to the EHC Chur , where he, however, also not traversed could and therefore the 1985/86 season for HC Lugano changed. There he developed into the club's figurehead and was instrumental in the upswing of the Grande Lugano in the eighties. Between 1986 and 1990 he won the Swiss championship title four times with the club . He got his nickname Mister Playoff because of his many goals during the playoffs, with which he contributed his share to the championship series Lugano. For the 1992/93 season he moved to the league rivals Zürcher SC . He stayed there for two seasons, one of which he played as assistant captain, before moving back to HC Lugano. At Lugano he played four more seasons, in 1998 he retired from active ice hockey. The impressive result: 532 points in 579 NLA missions. After his career, Ton played for various lower-class teams.

International

Ton played his first game for the Swiss national team in 1988, shortly after his naturalization, at the Nissan Cup in Bern. Finland was the name of the opponent, peppered with stars like the Finnish defenders Kari Eloranta and Reijo Ruotsalainen . It took Ton just 17 seconds to mark his first hit in the Eisgenossen dress . In addition to six participations in world championships, clay was used at the 1992 Olympics in Albertville . The highlights of his career were the victories against the ice hockey major powers Canada, Czechoslovakia, Sweden and the CIS. But Ton also had low points: the Olympic debacle at the Olympic Games, when Switzerland only placed tenth place, or the 1993 World Cup in Munich , and in Stockholm in 1995 , when after a disappointing tournament you stepped into the B group had to compete.
