Anna Maria of Saxony
Anna Maria Maximiliane Stephania Karoline Johanna Luisa Xaveria Nepomucena Aloysia Benedicta of Saxony (born January 4, 1836 in Dresden , † February 10, 1859 in Naples ) was a Saxon princess from the Albertine line of the Wettins and hereditary grand duchess of Tuscany by marriage .
Life
Anna Maria was a daughter of King John of Saxony (1801–1873) from his marriage to Amalie Auguste (1801–1877), daughter of King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria .
Anna Maria's father was a close friend of the Grand Duke Leopold II of Tuscany ; their families were linked by several marriages. A marriage between the heir to the throne and a Saxon princess was negotiated early on. Princess Anna Maria married the future Grand Duke Ferdinand IV of Tuscany (1835–1908) in Dresden on November 24, 1856 , whom she had met two years earlier on Ferdinand's bridal trip.
She was the bearer of the Star Cross . Hereditary Grand Duchess Anna Maria died at the age of 23 as a result of the stillbirth of her second child and was buried in the Basilica of Santa Chiara in Naples. Grand Duke Leopold II, Ferdinand's father, abdicated in favor of his son on July 21, 1859, making her widower the last Grand Duke of Tuscany five months after Anna Maria's death.
