Anton Rödin (born November 21, 1990 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Brynäs IF from the Svenska Hockeyligan again since 2019 and plays for them in the position of the left winger .
Career
Anton Rödin began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Hammarby IF . In the summer of 2006 he moved to the youth department of Brynäs IF , with whose U20 juniors he was first runner-up in 2008 and finally champion of the SuperElit youth division in 2009. In the 2008/09 season, the winger also made his professional ice hockey debut when he was on loan in six games for IK Oskarshamn in HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in the second round as a total of 53 players by the Vancouver Canucks . In the 2009/10 season he was on the ice for the first time during an entire season in the Elitserien and scored two goals and four assists in a total of 41 games in his rookie year . He also played for the second division team Mora IK in eight games, in which he scored two goals and gave as many templates.
On June 2, 2010 Rödin signed a three-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks, but initially stayed in his Swedish homeland and also played in the 2010/11 season for Brynäs IF as a loaner in the Elitserien. For the 2011/12 season he was ordered by the Vancouver Canucks to North America, where he played for their farm team Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League (AHL) until 2013 . He completed over 100 AHL games in which he scored 41 scorer points, but not a single game in the NHL. Therefore, after his contract expired, he decided to return to his parent club.
He then played for Brynäs IF for three more years, leading the team as team captain in the 2015/16 season, but missed almost 20 games due to an injury. Nevertheless, he was elected MVP by the players of the league and thus received the Guldhjälmen . After the season he moved again to the Vancouver Canucks, who equipped him with a one-year contract in March 2016. However, apart from three appearances each for the Canucks in the NHL and the Utica Comets in the AHL , the attacker missed almost the entire 2016/17 season due to an injury, so his contract was terminated in November 2017 due to lack of perspective. He then immediately moved to HC Davos in the Swiss National League . In July 2018, however, Rödin returned to the NHL by signing a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks . There he was again unable to assert himself in the NHL squad, so his contract in California was canceled before the start of the 2018/19 season. A little later Rödin returned to HC Davos.
Since 2019 he has been back playing for his hometown club Brynäs IF, with whom he signed a five-year contract in April 2019.
International
For Sweden , Rölin took part in the 2010 U20 Junior World Championship , where he won the bronze medal with his team. He contributed to this success with three goals and seven assists in six games.
In the 2013/14 to 2015/16 seasons he took part in the Euro Hockey Tour as part of the Swedish national team.
