The Antonov A-13 is a Soviet glider .
development
The machine was specially created for aerobatics and was used in large numbers by the DOSAAF in their clubs. The instrumentation was enough to break through clouds. The first flight took place on May 5, 1958. Series production began in 1959.
60 Antonov A-13s were equipped with a small jet engine on the back of the fuselage. The engine delivered a thrust of 56 kp. This type was called Antonov An-13 and reached 196 km / h in February 1962.
construction
The metal-built middle decker (self-supporting shell construction) had a V-tail unit with an opening angle of 90 ° as a special feature . This and part of the wing were covered with fabric, otherwise the planking was made of metal. The landing gear consists of a retractable main wheel and a tail spur. There is also a runner under the bow. Curved flaps serve as landing flaps, and there are also spoilers in the wings. There were rub strips on the wing ends. It corresponds to the Antonov A-11 except for the shorter wings .
