Antti Sami Aalto (born March 4, 1975 in Lappeenranta ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who played for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the National Hockey League from 1991 to 2006 .
Career
Antti Aalto began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with SaiPa Lappeenranta , for which he was active in the I Divisioona from 1991 to 1993 . He was then selected in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round as a total of 134 players by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim . First, however, he played for four years for TPS Turku in the SM-liiga , with which he was Finnish champion for the first time in 1995 and runner-up in 1994, 1996 and 1997. In addition, the attacker and his team won the European Cup in 1994 and the European Hockey League in 1997 .
In the 1997/98 season , Aalto finally made his debut for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the National Hockey League , for which he was on the ice in the following four seasons as well as for their farm team , the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks from American Hockey League . In the summer of 2001, the left-shooter returned to his Finnish homeland, where he received a contract with Jokerit Helsinki , with whom he became champion in the 2001/02 season and won the IIHF Continental Cup in 2003 . After two years at Jokerit, Aalto was signed by his ex-club TPS Turku, with whom he was runner-up again in the 2003/04 season and where he ended his career in the summer of 2006.
International
For Finland , Aalto took part in the U20 Junior World Championships in 1994 and 1995 , as well as the World Championships in 1997 , 2000 and 2002 . He was also in Finland's squad at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .
