Arthur Hilton
Arthur David Hilton (born April 5, 1897 in London - † October 15, 1979 in Sherman Oaks , Los Angeles , California ) was a British - American film editor , film director and film producer , who won both the Oscar for Best Editing Eddie , the price of the American Cinema Editors (ACE Award) for best Editing, and twice for the Primetime Emmy was nominated for outstanding performance while cutting.
Life
Hilton began his career as an editor in the Hollywood film industry in 1928 on the drama The Hound of Silver Creek directed by Stuart Paton with the dog Dynamite the Dog and Edmund Cobb and Gloria Gray . Until his death in 1979 he worked as an editor, director and producer in the production of more than 120 films and episodes of television series.
At the Oscar ceremony in 1947 Hilton was nominated for the Oscar for Best Editing nomination, specifically for after Ernest Hemingway's short story The Killer incurred feature film The Killers (The Killers, 1946) by Robert Siodmak with Burt Lancaster , Ava Gardner , and Edmond O'Brien in the leading roles.
Between 1950 and 1960, Hilton also worked as a director and as such mostly staged episodes of television series such as The Buster Keaton Show (1950), Life with Buster Keaton (1951), Lassie (1956), The Bounty Hunter (Wanted: Dead or Alive, 1960) , Johnny Ringo (1960), Richard Diamond, Private Detective (Richard Diamond, Private Detective), but also the western The Return of Jesse James (1950) with John Ireland , Ann Dvorak and Henry Hull .
In 1970, Hilton received his first of two Primetime Emmy nominations for outstanding merits in entertainment film editing for the 1966-1973 Paramount Television series Cobra, Take Over (Mission: Impossible) by Paramount Television for the CBS .
